New school announced for Blakenall, Walsall
The Department for Education today announced that Blakenall Free School has been approved to open in Blakenall, Walsall. The new secondary school, which is being set up by Windsor Academy Trust, is due to open in 2018/19.
Blakenall Free School will focus on unlocking both the academic and personal potential of young people. There will be a special emphasis on developing health and well-being by using the power of sport and physical activity.
Keith Sorrell, Chief Executive of the Windsor Academy Trust said:
“We are absolutely delighted that Blakenall Free School has been approved. It is our aim for Blakenall Free School to provide a world class education serving young people aged 11-18 from the Blakenall community”
Windsor Academy Trust is already overseeing two successful primary academies in the Blakenall area, Rivers Primary Academy and Goldsmith Primary Academy. We are proposing to open a new, 11-18 secondary Free School in the Blakenall district and will be seeking the approval from the Department for Education to open this new school in September 2018.
